Artist statementI have been into graffiti since a very young age.. started my life as an artist when I was in primary school where I used to copy images from my favourite comics which I think has a lot to do with what I am doing currently... when I first started doing graffiti I was about 14. It was just tagging which to me was the basis of learning can control and also exposing me to something I really knew nothing about...
I stopped tagging after a while as it wasn’t really challenging and started sketching outlines and doing quick bombs with just chrome and black spraypaint... which over the years led to using colour and slightly changing my outlines...
By now I had a group of mates doing the same thing... we knew of this place where we could do this legally so I could experiment with outlines and painting characters and that to me was where my graffiti career really started... I started looking at other graffiti from New York, LA and Europe...
I’d say today my main influences are from LA... focusing on very stylistic fonts and wild type lettering... and painting dark comic type characters with bold colouring...
I’m currently doing a degree in design, majoring in painting where I’m finding common ground between fine arts and graffiti and trying to mix it all together....
