Lou-Darcie Lewis
Artist's statement
This work has evolved from a series of illustrations which explore mortality, morality and loss, in a semi-romantic, almost childish way which laces the macabre with the innocent.
Surreal landscapes appear desolate mindscapes yet within them is a promise of escape.
Lou-Darcie probes the collusion of social identity and scrutinizes her own imagination.
Her work for this show, pictured right, was titled 'Beautiful stories for ugly children', in acrylic, wallpaper & pencil on wooden support.
